I made a whole bunch of songs since I've gotten iLife with GarageBand. I played it for one of my friends and he was wondering what program I used to do it. I told him. And his response was, "I don't get it, man. You won't rip off music anymore but you rather rip off $1000 software."

Are programs of GarageBand's type this expensive?! if so . . . gotta love Apple . . .

Pro audio apps like this can typically cost anywhere from $300 to well over $1000.
Of course, they're more versatile (working with video, multiple live recording tracks in the same song, greater fine tuning & effects, etc). But between iMovie, iDVD, and GarageBand, iLife is one hell of a value at $50.
