iPhoto crashes for me at launch. I have a 5 GB library with almost 5000 pictures. I really don't to have to recreate this library. I don't know what to do. A simple restart won't solve the problem.
Any ideas?

No guarantees that this will work but it did solve some iPhoto crashes I had back with iPhoto 2.
1. Open Image Capture
2. Bring up preferences and for the parameter "When a camera is connected, open", choose None. I assume you normally set this to iPhoto.
3. Quit Image Capture
4. Start iPhoto and agree to auto-open iPhoto on camera connection. Hopefully iPhoto will not crash this time.
Let me know if this helps.

I had this - it's due to corrupted thumbnail cache files. Go to your iPhoto Library folder, and there will be some files called 'Thumb32.data', 'Thumb64.data' and 'ThumbJPG.data'. Delete these. iPhoto will now work, and it will recreate these files.
