How do You get Safari to print the url date etc at the bottom of a page?

AFAIK, printing is one of the REALLY weak points of Safari, and printing headers and footers is not supported so far. As well as turning of the background of a page is not supported.
But there are whole threads rattling off Safari's "slight" shortcomings when it comes to printing, both here at macnn and in Apple's support forums.

Safari 1.2 now has the ability to disable background printing.

Safari v1.2 now has the option to toggle this under the Print window...
By default it is off.
