anyone have any idea why this happens to me on IDVD4?
i have a g4-733 running panther that now has a 1.42 cpu upgrade from Powerlogix, 1.5gb ram, 80Gb HD and a 250GB HD connected through a Sonnet ATA-133 pci card.
i was trying to burn a dvd with just two QT movies - 10 min. each in IDVD4 and somehow the whole system crashes - mouse locks up and can't do force quit. re-formatted hard drive and moved the movies to it and tried the same thing - background encoding and without - then locks up the whole system again.
i moved these QT files into my firewire HD and connected it to my ALBook 1.25 and was able to burn the DVD - no problem at all...
thinking it was a controller problem - used the same firewire HD on my desktop, ran IDVD4 to burn the same QT movies and alas, it still locks up and crashes!
could it be that there is an incompatibility with the G4 processor upgrade? or am i just in a bind?

Don't think there is a problem with a processor upgrade. I've used mine to create a couple of movies and burn with iDVD and have had no problems.

what could be the problem then? am using dvd studio pro 2 now and it is doing the same thing -- seems to lock up my whole system but worked fine with my other comps.
come to think of it, it's hanging my g5 but i could force quit, though....
