I set up Address Book in 10.2. I tried to access it in 10.3, and it's empty. I have a copy of the old prefs from ~/library/ApplicationSupport, but the preference files are different now. it's "ABPerson.skIndex" and "AddressBook.data" instead of "ABPerson.index", and a simple rename doesn't help. I can see the name and info in the file's plaintext, so it's not empty.
I tried installing Jaguar's Address Book.app, it won't run. I know how to export it to vcf from the Jaguar addressbook for importing into Panther's now, but I can't access it from just Panther. What do I do to get my AddressBook back? Don't say reformat for Jaguar.....
edit:i have two backups, one has just that index file in it, the other has Addressbook.data in it, which has my info inside it.

uh, sorry to reply to my own post, but the files i mentioned above are empty. the "ABPerson.index" has info and such, but the other files just have a reference to one person (who i emailed, thanks mail.app, great) and Apple's default entries.
I think I just lost my addressbook, despite two backups. Guess i'll just move back to Address Master Pro (created 1996). Great.
If anyone has a way to recover info from that file, well, i can't delete the thread....

I eventually redid my addressbook. Backup on every change, I have two other programs with my addressbook data. Fun!
Someone suggested to me that it might be caused by AddressBook crashing. Not here though, here they're obviously ******* ;-)
If you can't boot your Pismo, just copy everything over to another machine, and reinstall 10.2, maybe addressbook'll work.

just copying over the files of "Library/Application Support" worked in the end. it seems to have been a permission problem.
