with the new vlc they have put a nice interface together. a lot better than the old one, but in my mind it is still too big.

i was wondering if it was possible to edit it and make it looks like the itunes one. exactly like the itunes one would be perfect. previous, play, next, and volume. what else do you need?

thanks

Of course it's possible -- not only is it possible to modify the resources like you can any OS X application, but it's also opensource so you can do all kinds of crazy shiznitz.

Crazy shiznitz huh?

I think a wonderfully crazy thing to do would be to find a way to let Quicktime access the full decoding (encoding isn't a big deal to me) capabilities of ffmpeg.

You could then use one player for just about everything, as it stands I've got to juggle three because some files that VLC will play MPlayer won't and vice versa and many Quicktime files won't play in VLC or MPlayer.

Besides that, QT plug-in being able to load up and play everything from DiVX to Windows Media would be amazingly convenient

Wouldn't it also theoretically allow iMovie and Quicktime Pro to import and edit all of those formats as well? That would really be something...

No no no, that would make waaaaaay too much sense.

I actually like what Max has done with the interface although I agree it could be smaller. If you want to refine the interface just get ThemePark and open up that rsrc folder. Lemme see if VLC even has one...hmm, nope. Just some PNG files in there. Youre a smart guy, you know how to change out PNG files though. Good luck

It's a good thing there are competitors and free MPEG-2 playback (and players without that stupid metal frame!!). VLC plays almost everything for me and I use to make the control window resizable.
