If anyone is a Novell GroupWise user, you might be interested to know that a native (Java-based) client for MacOS X is now available from Novell.
Its still in beta release, and operates on the slow side (especially on older hardware) and there are some interface quirks (non-standard open/save dialogs, limited context menu support), but at least it works! And no more web-based access necessary.
There were older beta versions of GroupWise for MacOS X, but these required server-side updates, which were also in beta (and unlikely to be installed in a production environment). This new beta does not require server-side changes, and looks (UI-wise) very similar Windows' 6.5 client.
It can be found at:
http://beta.novell.com/public.jsp
Follow the link to the Linux client, and there you will find the .dmg MacOS X file.
Make sure your OS X's Java is up-to-date. I can't speak for how well it works on 10.2.x, but on 10.3.x it seems OK.
Its pretty slow on my 900MHz G3 blue & white PowerMac (but so is everything). I'll try it on my 2x2 G5 when I get home and tell you how it goes.
Thanks, Novell
