I thought that the current thread was getting a bit long, especially now with beta 2 available.

I hope no one minds I started a new thread for beta 2 issues/comments.

Personally, I'd like to thank the Omni guys for so quickly addressing many of the major issues in beta 1.

Comments: text edit windows (such as this one) still don't work quite right all the time. Also, the blue highlight around the text boxes have some graphical glitches still. I think these may have even been present in OW 4.5, too.

Only problem I see (and won't be corrected until the next WebCore is put in) is that Outlook Web Access is horrid....

the biggest thing for me that i'd like to see is support for the TITLE tag on links. Lots of forums that i read use this to preview the content of posts before clicking them, and it's a nice feature. This just recently started working in Safari, so it might have something to do with the new version of webcore ?

I've also noticed some javascript things not working that do work properly in safari.

I do love omni's implementation of tabs. I could never get into using them with safari/mozilla and just relied on expose to swap windows around, but i find myself using them all the time in omniweb.

My only complaint with this beta is that some of the preferences aren't sticking. The default OmniWeb identifier is IE 4.01. The Security and Ad Blocking preferences revert back to nothing being checked upon startup, etc, etc, etc.

A lot of issues were addressed.

I still have a problem with the tab group I load every morning. Once I close the first 5 tabs or so, OW crashes when I get to close the next tab. Always.

I just keep submitting the crash reports and hope it will be fixed by final.

Cheers.

How is the stability now?

I found that in both betas 1 and 2, loading a pdf was an automatic crasher for me, and I was surprised not to see this listed in the known issues at OG's site.

Then I remembered that I had Schubert-it's PDF Browser plugin in my ~/Library/Internet Plugins folder. It was version 1.2.1--not the latest version. When I installed the newest one, 1.2.3, the problem was solved.

So just a heads-up for anyone with a similar problem--check it out.

it'd be pretty slick if I could have the tab drawer divided in half horizontally and have the bottom half be for bookmarks and the top half for tabs.

Had that one too - but usefully you can turn off any plug-in using the preferences.

I find the screen drawing generally a bit glitchy, especially when scrolling.

It's a rock. No crashes yet, and it quits fine now as well. You had to force quit beta 1

B2 is much improved in speed stability and some working features.

Still love:
- Workspaces
- OmniTabs
- Updating bookmarks
- Passwords in keychain
- RSS Feeds

Still needs work:
- Speed. It just feels pokey as you switch tabs, load pages, open bookmarks (all on a 1Ghz G4 w/ 2GB of RAM)
- Optimization as B2 likes to chew up proc time
- Favicons for bookmarks (remembering them).

Had to force-quit it a couple of times last night as trying to use the forums at Ars Technica would cause it to beachball. Looking quite nice, thouh I'll stick with Safari for now (of course, I'll try Beta 3 when it comes out )

Is it possible to get the browser to open to a workspace snapshot?

Not at present - send them feedback requesting this. I'd quite like to see the option to be presented a choice of which Workspace to open on launch. It isn't such an issue for me, but for modem users, I can well imagine that they might not want to launch that last workspace with 40 open windows in it every single time they launch OW, and would rather have the option to open a blank canvas...

Can anyone confirm this consistent crasher for me? I have my thumbnail drawer on the right (displaying thumbs, not tabs). Go to www.thinksecret.com and open a news article at the bottom of the drawer. Once loaded, click the thumb and close it via cmd-w or the "x" - I get a crash every time I do this with a think secret article. It has to be at the bottom of the drawer for the crash to occur - if it is in the middle, the thumb will disappear, but the site will remain displayed in the main window until I click another tab, which is also a bug.

Speaking of workspaces... it would be nice if they could integrate the workspace menus into part of the toolbar/bookmarks/omnitabs. I like having them, but not in another window. Maybe as an option.
