greetings!

I'm having problems connecting to other people on AIM for video chatting. It will connect for a few seconds, then I get a screen saying "connection lost, no data in 10 seconds" I've already opened the ports, what else do I need to do?

I'm using a firewire camcorder on a PowerBook G4 1.25 ghz AL

Any ideas?

Hey, at least you can get it to connect. I have a couple of friends who have XP and 5.5 but they can't find any prefs for audio/video. And when i right click on their name in my buddy list i can't get any audio/video options. What's up wit dat?!

That is nearly always a sign that the FireWall at the other users end is not set up properly.. Can see this message often on regular Mac to mac chats too if the end user has suspect firewall settings.
I was having some very odd system instabilities while iChat AV 2.1 beta was installed. I have now reverted back to the previous non beta release. All is well again..

Yeah, I just tried iChat beta with an XP buddy, and we could not get them to connect.

Now, he does not have a camera, and I have the iSight. We should still be able to audio chat, right?

Another wierdness is that for a while now, iChat AV has been hogging CPU on my Powerbook sometimes using %60 percent of my CPU, for a TEXT chat! WTF?

I think I read that this is something to do with the user you are talking to having an animated icon/avatar. Stupid thing is, we don't even see the animation on iChat AV anyway. Ask them if their icon is supposed to be animated..

I have an iSight as well, and i've been trying to connect to my windoze friends with minimal success. It will connect for a couple of seconds, and then die. Granted, none of them have web cams, but it should still work one way. Although when i go for the option using a right click on the buddy list, it's greyed out. Soooo, i can two way video chat with someone that doesn't have a camera, but only for 10 seconds...and i can't one way video chat with a PC user even though they don't have a camera. Any help here, or is this the part that screams BETA!?
