Is there a setting in Apple Remote Desktop that a user can specifically allow to get controlled? I imagine some kind of dialog that says: "Your system administrator wants to control your computer. Do you want to allow it?"

This would be great.
Scarcely pausing for breath, Vroomfondel shouted, "We DON'T demand solid facts! What we demand is the total ABSENCE of solid facts. I demand that I may or may not be Vroomfondel!"

Not that I'm aware of.

You could always initiate a text chat with a target asking if it's ok…

/goes to send feedback. Been so long since using Timbuktu that I had forgotten about that feature.

It's quite usefull, especially if you want to repect privacy/transperancy to some extend. Some "targets" don't even have the ARD status symbol in the menu bar and don't even know if they're watched.
