Is there any way to get iTunes to play groups of tracks together without having it shuffle the entire library by album? I just ripped 'The Rite of Spring' and the CD that I took it off of has it split into multiple tracks. Is there a way to get them to play all together and in order if it comes up on the shuffle? Also, what does the check box for 'Part of a compilation' do? It doesn't seem to have done what I want....

Thanks!

I don't think there is, but when you're ripping the CD you can tell it to join together specific tracks so that they rip as one file. Located in Advanced > Join CD Tracks.

I'm not sure what the significance of "Part of a Compilation" is. Perhaps related to the Shuffle by Album feature (though I always assumed it used the album name in the ID tag to do that, and I don't see how iTunes would know what Compilation a track is part of if that were checked!).

This is a feature (among others) I've been wanting for a while, have posted about it and also submitted the suggestion to Apple. Want the ability to group a set of tracks so they'll be treated as a single track by shuffle mode and smart playlists. I hope we'll have this some day.

In the meantime, the only solution is "Join CD Tracks". Sometimes that's not so bad, though it is a weak substitute for the desired functionality.
