My firend has 10.1.5, he tried to use an older version of BT, 3.1, because he didn't have 10.2 or higher, but when he opens torrents they crash the program

any ideas?

BT depends on the PyObjC Cocoa-Python bridge, which I believe only runs in 10.2 or higher.

I do wish I understood why Apple didn't include PyObjC with OSX, given that they include Python (and in 10.3, they use it for some core OS tasks). Or at least Tkinter, which has been available on OSX for some time now.

Another thing you might try is to install bittorrent via fink. I don't know if this will work on 10.1, but that's the best idea I've got right now... and then use the "GUI"-less mode in the Terminal.app... that's what I do everyday in the 10.2 because I don't want the BT windows to be everywhere and annoy me...
If you get bittorrent installed via fink... then ask me for more directions...

Another option is to use a different Bit Torrent client. The one I use is Azureus. It's written in Java instead of python, but works equally well (better actually). I'm not sure what version of Java comes with 10.1, but as long as it's 1.3 or later then Azureus should work.

well, i went to macupdate.com and checked out eetee and Azureus, and it says they both require 10.2, I need an older client, if they exist, that'll run on 10.1.5. Thanks for the help so far, I appreciate it.

is there a way to install these libaries in 10.1.5, so bittorrent will work?

i found this: http://www.jython.org/

would this allow 10.1 to run the java BT app?
