After struggling with Powermail for about a year, I have just switched back to using the built-in Mail program. When I upgraded to Panther, I found they'd improved Mail to do the things I wanted.

However, I have a year's worth of correspondence stuck in the Powermail files, and I can't figure out if I can import it.

There's no option that explicitly says 'powermail' on the import list, and the 'Other' function doesn't seem to recognize Powermail's file format.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you have access to an IMAP server, you can push your emails to it from PowerMail, and then pull them down from the Mac.

A .Mac account will work for this. It would take a while with a GB of mail, though ;-)

Check if powermail has an 'export' function to put the mail in a more common format. If so, try doing this, then using Mail's import other.

I'm pretty sure powermail can export mailboxes as Eudora, and I'm pretty sure Mail can import Eudora.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I had to export each mailbox separately but it did allow me to export them to the OS X Mail format (it actually has several options for export). Then it was then a snap to import it all into the Mail app.
