Canvas and PDF/EPS output frustration

I'm using Canvas 8.06 and every time I save a file as EPS or PDF, text disappears. It happens randomly and with various documents. I need to save them as EPS to get them into Word and it is really frustrating to print it out and find something missing. The preview looks fine.

Any ideas? Does Canvas 9 fix this? If so, will it fix things even if I import the original from Canvas 8?
