I'm not a programmer but please developers make this happen.

-Two Mac users half a world away. Both of them have iChat, both have Bluetooth in their Macs, both have a Bluetooth phone.

-The developer's task is to install an applet on the Bluetooth phones that has an iChat buddy list. When a buddy is selected the phone communicates with the Mac and allows voice chat with buddies anywhere in the world. Voice OiP but with iChat AV.

All that needs to be done is for someone to create an app and driver that allows the phone to be used as a buddy caller and wireless microphone. The applet on the phone should show buddy status and other information. Camera support could also be added if enough data can be sent over Bluetooth.

Well -- There is one problem with that scenario - the mobile phone won't be an audio gateway to other bluetooth devices - It's technically possible - but phone manufacturers aren't building that into the phones of today.

The better solution would be for both of you to get BT headsets - then you can use those with the Mac and iChat (I've done this - it works)

If you wanted to initiate the chat on the phone you can whip-up an applescript and then use something like SallingClicker to initiate the chat.

The only difference here would be that instead of talking into a handset - you have a wireless Headset.

Yes, but the whole point of the idea is to be able to select a buddy away from the computer and use the phone as you would normally. The display is important too. It gives info about the buddy, such as away or available, flashes a picture of the buddy and even sounds a ringtone to let you know someone wants to talk to you. This isn't possible with a simple wireless headset solution.

It's also not possible with today's current prop of Bluetooth-enabled phones as Diggory said due to manufactures not including that capability...once that is done on their end, something like this could come to fruition...

I'm currently working on the U.S Treasury; however, per applicable time, I can try the phones later on...

Yes it is - You just use the right component for the right job. The handset displays the information and controls the iChat - but the audio of the chat goes through the headset - you're using both - not just one or another device.

Bluetooth is a Personal Area Network - not just a one-cable replacement.

You are feeling sleepy. You will make it happen. You will hack the phone. You will develop the app. You will release it as freeware.
