How do you make software that require a cd run off the hard drive?

Depends on how the software is requiring the CD.

Most often this is done by making an image (.dmg on MacOS X) of the CD, and then mounting the image. This is not a panacea solution though.

I have this guitar tutorial cd that needs the cd loaded everytime i want to hear songs and chords. The actual program on the hard drive itself is around 40mb, but the media is located on the cd. I was wondering if I can just simply edit the program into tricking it to look on the local drive instead of the cd drive.

Disk image should work
