Annoying iPhoto Date Problem

	I'm in the process of scanning a bunch of old photos into my iPhoto library, which means that after each scan I need to change the date on the photo to match the actual date and time it was taken, not the date and time it was scanned. I've noticed that if you pause for a little too long (maybe 2 or 3 seconds) while you're typing in the new date, iPhoto jumps in and pastes in the current date and time at the insertion point. This is incredibly annoying. Has anyone else noticed this "feature"? Is there a way to turn it off?
