I'd like to be able to do this from the Terminal. What is the name of the executable that it runs?

Thanks.

In the terminal: "ps -auxww | grep Snitch" assuming that "Snitch" is part of the name. Check with /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.

Why not just check in teh system prefs? If it's running the start button will be changed to a stop button. Simple no mess.

I need to be able to do it from a terminal window (no GUI).

And Moonray, do you know if "Snitch" is part of the executable name? I'm not sure it is.

You mean the "LittleSnitchDeamon"? Also, are you asking this so that you can kill it from your program? (Not a good thing, I must say)

I mean the background process that monitors outgoing connections. I just need to be able to tell if it is running or not.

As King Bob said, "LittleSnitchDeamon" will show up in a top list if it's running. It goes away if it's not so you should be able to do a quick scan to see if it's running.
