i would like to download audible books and music to a windows desktop at work (using itunes for windows), and transfer these to my mac at home. are any issues/complications i need to be aware of?

Never tried it cross-platform, but you can authorize up to three computers. I've downloaded stuff on my iBook at work, and play it on the iMac at home.

It should be fine. I have a PC and 2 Macs Authorized. you can transfer cross platform no problem.
