Just curious since I have Applecare can I go to the apple store and get Techtool 4 for the discounted price or do I have to order directly from Micromat. It's not the biggest deal I just don't like waitng for things in the mail.

No, you have to order it directly from MicroMat.

Just do it and order Priority Mail (only 50 cents more than regular mail). I ordered on a Tuesday and got it on a Friday, so not too much of a wait.

I have both older version of TechTool Deluxe (from AppleCare) and DiskWarrior v3.0.1. It costs $50 for upgrade to TechTool Pro 4 Upgrade From TechTool Deluxe.

I think DW can do the work as TT Pro 4, right?

Well, DW has the ability to repair disks, which can also be done by TechTool, but TechTool contains a lot of other tests of your computer's other components (many of which are included in the Hardware Test CD/DVD that came with your computer, but many of which are not).

I always think it is best to have more than one disk utility. I have had situations where TechTool could not recover a disk but DiskWarrior could, and ones where DiskWarrior would not recover, but TechTool did.
