Hmmm ... I'm wondering. Do you think he means it as a question ? Like "How do I redirect a simple URL to my IP address ?". Or maybe an imperative, like "HEY YOU ! REDIRECT A SIMPLE URL TO MY IP ADDRESS !! AND BE QUICK ABOUT IT". Or he could even mean it like a book title with a subheading, like REDIRECT: a simple URL to my IP address

However, I consider it most likely that he means "I accidently hit post before I wrote any text"

No no, I disagree. I am sure he meant to tell us to redirect a simple URL to his IP address. So now we need to pick a simple URL to redirect there.

I suggest "iamnewtotheinternet.com". Any more suggestions?

Lol...Huh...my message never got posted apparently.

I was just looking for a software that could take my IP(because it is dynamic) and post it as a simpler url. That way I could use my computer as a web server.

thanks

Have a look at dyndns to get assign your dynamic IP to a domain name of your choosing. http://www.dyndns.org/

Then get dnsupdate to inform dyndns when your IP changes (it does it auotmagically).

Another option is to use zoneedit.com for your DNS service (the best darn DNS service out there) and use DNSUpdate to update zoneedit.com.

Completely agree

I never knew there was a program to update zoneedit.com though, thanks!
