Hi,

I have a problem with my MIDI input with Garage Band. I have a Yamaha keyboard with MIDI In and Out. I have bought a MIDI <-> USB interface - MIDI Sport Uno - to connect the keyboard to the PowerBook. I have installed the driver. There are two lights on - USB and MIDI in. When I go to preference, It says that there is one MIDI input detected. I cannot select the keyboard as an input. I have followed step by step the process on the help menu ofGarage Band and nothing work.

Thanks for your help.

Hi!

I don't think you have to select the keyboard as an input in Garageband, I can't see where you would do that. In case your keyboard has a synthesizer built in, does MIDI output to the keyboard work? If not, maybe you have confused the In/Out port on the MIDI interface or the keyboard (though I guess then the second light on the interface would be off). Have you configured your MIDI setup in the Audio/MIDI configuration utility (in /Applications/Utilities/)? I'm not sure whether it's necessary, but it won't hurt. Just open the MIDI tab in the utility, click the "Add" button, double click the new icon and assign a name, the few configuration options are pretty self explanatory, just make sure the correct port is selected in the Ports tab. Then close the options panel and connect the in/output of the MIDISport Uno with the out/input of the new keyboard symbol by drawing a line between the triangles with your mouse. You can test your setup by clicking the "Test configuration" button in the upper right and then clicking the triangles. Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for your help. I had not configured anything on the audi/midi utility software. I have installed the driver for the MIDISport Uno but it does not appear in the midi tab as it should. I only have IAC driver and I do not know what to do about it. Thanks for your help.

Hmm, I got my MIDISport 1x1 a few weeks ago and it showed up as soon as I had installed the drivers. Have you downloaded the latest version from http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers ?
