Greetings,

The other day, I was attempting to download a PDF file while being online. After a few seconds, I realized that I already had that file and proceeded to cancel the download.

Everything was fine until I tried to delete that file (or the portion that did download) and I received a dialog box stating that the file was in use and could not be deleted.

I rebooted several times (it's been almost a week now) and Diskwarrior / Norton had no effect whatsoever.

Any suggestions?

I know it's not a big thing, but...

Rob

There was a thread on this the other day. Do a search for "can't move files".

In my opinion, the simplest method is to save over the file using Word. Just be sure that the new file has the same name (including extension). Then go to Finder and delete the document.

Actually, the simplest way to get the file to delete is simply to use the "Secure Empty Trash" feature in the Finder menu. As long as its not actively open in an application, that will force the Finder to delete it.

I don't think that works if you can't move the file to the trash in the first place.
