Hi folks. I recently upgraded computers to a 15" G4 powerbook. I run one shareware program that is not written for the Mac (I wish I could write it for the Mac!) and now that I have VPC 6.1 installed I downloaded the shareware program in order to use it. It upacked fine, but each time I try and run it I get a General Protection Fault. I know the program runs fine on a PC (ugh), but why will it not run under VPC 6.1 with Windows XP Pro? Do you need the actual code that the General Protection Fault displays to answer my question or do you have some solid ideas of how to approach this problem. As you might guess I asked the developer about this, his only reply, the Mac is not a supported machine so I don't have to worry about it, how nice!

What shareware program is it? What does it do?

Maybe we could find you an alternative shareware program that is written for the Mac.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

The shareware is called Rail Baron Player, to my knowledge there is nothing like it for the Mac at this point. I wrote a program similar to this back in Apple II days but have not kept up with the ever-increasing difficulty of maintaining my "real" job and learning more difficult programming.
