Hello! I just bought Microsoft Office for Mac and it is good but a bit different from the normal version. Is there a way to make it a bit more normal? Sorry if that sounds a bit vague - I want to get rid of that window thats always on the side, but not lose the ability to change the font and stuff!
Anyone who has used the non-Mac version of Word will know what I am talking about (I hope!).
Thank you everyone, I really appreciate your help

I think Hannah reffers to hide the Formatting Palette and be able to get control over fonts and so.
Note that my Office is not an english version, but go to 'View' menu and uncheck Formatting Palette, then in the same 'View' menu go to Toolbars and check Formatting or Format, I unknow its english name.
Another option is just customize it all in your way

I know
It's the same thing. Through the view menu, like you said, or through customize in the tools menu, like I said. Gotta love M$-bloatware

Hmmm, I think the last thing I would call this would be making it more 'normal' , but yes it's easy enough. You can even in fact just press the close box on the formatting palette and then do exactly as you would on Windows and right-click or ctrl-click on the standard toolbar, assuming it is there, and select whatever else you want.
I would suggest giving the formatting palette a chance though. I, for one, find it a much better way of handling all of that stuff than having more of my vertical screen real estate taken up with toolbars - especially when they don't dock into the main window!

I would like to place the personalized toolbar I have vertically instead of horizontally, any option to do it?

but of course.
Just resize the tool bar (using the gizmo in the lower right hand corner of the toolbar, just like any other window) and drag it downwards/leftwards

WHAT IS NORMAL?
Using Windows? Paying Microsoft?

Well, uh, yes. Since that's what the vast majority of people do, it's by definition "normal."

There were a few reponses similar to this one, and this is what I did and it worked! Thanks everyone, I find it much easier to use now!
