Is it possible to add Air America Radio's web broadcast to the iTunes Radio playlist? If so, how is this done?

They have Real Audio webcasts on their website. I just use those.

Is there a way to add broadcasts to iTunes Radio?

I want to listen to Chicago Public Radio and would love to add it to the iTunes Radio section.

just go to whatever radio station's web page you want to listen to. Try clicking on the various streaming links and if iTunes can handle them, it will. (I've done this successfully with NPR here in Salt Lake City as well as a few other stations)

Congrats! You've won the least helpful post of the day!

This is how Apple says to do it:

Connecting to an Internet broadcast

If you know the Internet address (URL) of an MP3 streaming broadcast, you can connect to it using iTunes.

1. Choose Advanced > Open Stream.

2. Enter the full URL of the file you want to listen to. For example, http://www.apple.com/itunes/sample.mp3.
Although this isn't likely to work with Air America as their 'net broadcast is limited to Real Audio and iTunes doesn't support that format.

This is the direct stream to the real audio file: http://play.rbn.com/?url=airam/airam...amp;proto=rtsp

LOL. Yea, it's the people listening to Air America that are the lemmings, not the people who believe everything Bush and Rush tell them to believe.

Can you listen to NPR in iTunes? When I visit the NPR site, I only get a Windows Media / Real Player choice. Entering a URL like "mms://wm.npr.na-central.speedera.net/wm.npr.na-central/day/20040402_day_01.wma" doesn't seem to do anything good in iTunes.

Yes I can, but only because the local affiliate broadcasts it in quicktime - i'd check your local affiliate and see if they do the same thing.

Yeah, what cpac said. I just found my local stations web cast (Oregon's OPB) and they even list iTunes as a compatible client. It works great! And now I can listen to NPR/OPB at work. Weeee!

Ah. Yeah, the local affiliates both stream Quicktime here, too. But not all the shows are carried locally, and I'm an on-demand kind of guy I can always buy them from Audible... then they play in my iPod, too.

Careful. That's more offensive than what he said.

And not all Buckeyes are still living in Columbus. GO BUCKS!
