Can it be done? Computer -> Palm

I would like the computer to automatically sync with my palm, without me having to be around.

I have my computer turning on and connecting to the web in the AM before work. I would like it to inititate a sync to my palm then shutdown, and I can just grab my palm and go.

Is there some app, terminal command (and applescript), or other way to make my computer inititate a hotsync? I am pretty sure there is no way with the palm software.

If not, someone invent one! thanks.

Okay, I'm not at my Mac right now, but what's the name of the app that launches when you initiate a HotSync from your Palm? I know HotSync Manager isn't it (guess that'd be too obvious) -- I think it's Conduit Manager. Anyway, start a HotSync from the Palm and pay attention to which app it launches and where it's located.

Now launch that app on your Mac. I'm pretty sure that'll initiate a HotSync, too, using your normal connection settings. You could use AppleScript or the terminal or Startup Items to launch it.

Of course, if I'm wrong: boy do I feel dumb for not just waiting 'til I got to my Mac to post. But I'm pretty sure on this'un..

Good luck.

yeah, I tried that, it is the "conduit manager" and while it does bring up the same window seen during syncronization (the "hotsync progress" window), it does not actually initiate the sync with the palm. It just says "stuatus: preparing to syncronize." - it never actually syncs. I have a sony clié sj20.

Yup, that's what happens to me now that I'm trying it. Weird. Coulda sworn I got it to work that way once.

Maybe you could e-mail the devs over at Mark/Space (who make the Missing Sync products and will be coming up w/the replacement for Palm's HotSync software when the new PalmOS comes out) and see if their product can do this or if they know a way to coax Conduit Manager into it..

g'luck..
y.
