I also posted this in the Gaming forum. Is there an app that can read .pak files from games like RTCW, Quake 3 and Jedi Academy and extract the music from those files?
I found PakRat but it hasn't been updated in years and is super buggy and can't extract music files.

If you just want to extract the sound files try this:
Duplicate the pak file, change the .pak suffix into .zip. Open the file with your favourite app to open ZIP files.
There's also an app called PakRat that can look into .pk3 files without expanding them, and even view models, textures, and maps (at least for the basic Quake3 formats).
