... and now I need to re-install on my PB. I did register it with Apple so I was wondering if anyone knew who I should contact about retrieving my serial number. Was thinking Apple Store Help, however that hasn't yeilded a result yet. Then I could try contacting the SoHo Apple Store which is where I bought it from.

Or is there a way to extract the serial from an install? I think I have installed it on my PMac as well.

Was planning on re-installing my 10.3 setup over the weekend because I'm having a few issues, which are starting to annoy me.

You don't need a serial number to install iLIfe 04 I know I didn't. I've thrown out my box after I installed it the first time.

Is this the Family Pack version of iLife with five licenses? There were no numbers needed for my individual install of iLife.

Why? Doesn't this make it a pain when you need to do a clean reinstall (like the original poster did)?

How does ditching the box make it a pain to reinstall after a clean install? The whole point is you don't need the box to install *at all*.

It makes it a little tougher. You have to find a way to extrapolate the serial number. I think I have mine written down somewhere.

Considering that the serial number = (), you could say that you have it written down everywhere simultaneously! Look around you! The air is full of iLife serial numbers!

Okay, let's try this again. I have iLife installed on my Mac, and I have ditched the box, which contains the DVD. I reformat and clean reinstall the OS. How do I reinstall iLife now, since I've ditched it?!

It was a hypothetical question... I'm just wondering why on earth you would throw the stuff away after you use it.

The original poster only threw away the box the stuff came in, not the stuff itself.

Okay, then it was a simple misunderstanding. I read the topic, "I did something stupid - I threw my iLife 2004 box away, and now I need to reinstall" as having thrown away the box with all its contents.

You see, I know some people who have actually done things like this - either they threw the stuff away, thinking they didn't need it anymore, or more commonly, they simply don't even know the stuff exists, let alone where it is ("Install disks? What install disks?"). Then they want my help with a problem which I want to fix with a reformat-reinstall, but can't for this reason...
