I did a search and didn't find anything, but apologize if this has been resolved elsewhere

My Tibook froze up on me for no reason that I know of (I was listening to music at the time) which was strange enough, but after I restarted my computer, I could no longer open iTunes

Every time I try to open iTunes or individual music file (all my music is still in the same place ~music/iTunes/iTunes Music) I receive an error message saying "The iTunes Library file cannot be read because it does not appear to be a valid library file."

I verified and repaired disc permissions as well as tried to reinstall iTunes from apple.com. When I did the latter, I was not able to complete the install; when it got to the install page, everything was greyed out and it said 0mb of files to be installed.

I'd apreciate any help anyone can give me, or at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

You could try deleting your library file (back it up first) and then let iTunes build a new one.

thanks

I backed up the library file like you said and got rid of the one iTunes wasn't reading properly. That allowed my to open iTunes and rebuild my library.

again, thanks!
