Can someone else get to Proteus's website?

I read a Thurs or Friday release... then Friday or Saturday release... now it is Saturday and the server is down.

I am excited to see the new features. Am I the only one with a problem accessing the server?

Wow, makes you feel ALMOST confident that this release won't have issues.

You know most software developers (I, being a web developer) usually let the software sit before release and post-QA. If this is a rush-job then I am debating skipping this until a bug fix release - 4.01 or 4.02.

I mean, how many days can you push back before you start setting a negative impression on the waiting public?

This is sounding like all the G5/PowerBook G4 rumor release dates...

Exactly, although to be fair Justin has got exams tomorrow and tuesday, so fixing any further bugs would really mess things up for him.

I think I need to start a 'forever delayed' list of software...

I'd rather Justin release stable software than pull an Adium 0.5 and be forced to patch it during his exams.

Else people like Zimphire will likely post some rubbish about Proteus crashing his Mac and never wanting touch that software again. It will crash his machine though, there's some very special code just for him...if Proteus detects that it's running on a Mac owned by Zimphire, it'll promptly self-destruct.

(Zimphire has been banninated).

Moving on, everyone seems to assume that a delayed release = more stable code. A release will just through up lots of issues that the testers won't have come across...

this is a good point. think of it as having lots and lots of testers who are willing to pay $15 to help find bugs.

but hey, what can we do? it's up to justin to when he wants to release it. it will be out _eventually_

At least he's predictable: I remember 3.0 being delayed by at least a week or two past the initial release date

And people wonder why Justin usually refuses to give a release date until only few days before the initial intended release...
