What is everyone's experience with iTunes slowing down? I just hit the 20,000 song mark (76 gigs), and iTunes is starting to get sluggish accessing, searching and browsing the library. (I have a G5-1.8 with 1 gig of RAM.)

I'm sure you paid for all that music...

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Why is this always the first comment ? Even if his music is pirated, why would you care ?

Because nobody would actually own that much music and be able to listen to it all...maybe iTunes isn't tailored for people that acquire insane amounts of music illegally.

I'm sure that eventually (when we get a database-like filesystem), things should be faster for those that pirate that much music.

That's strange, I own that much music. Legally.

Believe it or not, the songs are ALL legal! I have a huge collection of CDs (over 1000). I have been "collecting" for almost 20 years and was a DJ at a college radio station during the 80s. All of my CDs have been encoded and stored in the basement. Most of the songs were downloaded LEGALLY from eMusic.com when they still had their UNLIMITED downloads option. I downloaded almost 35 gigs (or half) of the songs from eMusic.com. (Thank God for high-speed Internet access.)

I seem to only notice slow downs or halts when ShapeShifter is loading themes. crap.

Why does it do that? It happens even on a just rebooted Panther with no apps running other than Finder & iTunes4.2 :S
