I'm so close to switching to Firefox on my Mac being that I already use it on my PC and just like the idea of consistency but there is just one thing that its missing.
Scroll-Clicking links. On the PC scroll clicking links opens up the link in a new tab. In Safari it does the same. Firefox, nothing.
Is anybody aware of any extension that may activate this feature?

Must. Have. Spellcheck.
edit: Firefox opens new tabs with a scroll wheel click, but perhaps it is because i've programmed my wheel to be a cmd-click?

this delay in iCab development is getting to me. Firefox needs a full filtermanager (adblock can only block images and only by the URL), and a better download manager. I might switch before it gets these, if the next iCab release is a 'slight bugfix and expiration date' release.

...via third party drives for your mouse?

Yes. Logitech mouse, which comes with a pref pane to program the buttons.
One could use USB Overdrive to program almost any mouse. I was under the impression that most multi-button mice come with some way to program the buttons?

Whoa, check out this Logitech mouse I'm using... who knew? I should go get some drivers for this thing; one of my biggest gripes with Firefox is the lack of the scroll click open link in new tab feature... Sweet.

I've got the 'thumb' button on the side set for cmd-W, to close tabs/windows with a click.

Must have bookmark synching via .Mac or some other method.
I've got a desktop and laptop, and couldn't live without this feature. Until the Firefox guys come up with an alternative, it's Safari for me.

Just tried Firefox on OS X (I've used it on other systems as the main browser), and it's alright. It's a little slow for me, not as bad as Safari, but pages felt like they were loading slower. If anything, it's a problem with the OS X port, I haven't seen that on other systems, wasn't expecting it.

Hmm. Works for me.
Perhaps you should check the options under "about :config" and find the options that control middle-clicks.

The only thing keeping me from using Firefox is on the fly spell checking like Safari. I use Firefox at work on my Windows machine full time where I can handle not having the spell check (since no other Windowws browser has it), but I'd love to see the feature in the OS X version.

I'm using FireFox on XP right now, and this sroll clicking is sweet. On my Mac, I have my Logitech mouse's wheel button setup for double clicking, but I command click in Safari anyway.

So I think I've said before that I liked Firefox over Camino... well I hadn't tried a Camino nightly in a few months... Hot damn I like Camino. Plus, Camino's scroll-click savvy

Why? There's no advantage whatsoever to it.

That might be. But it will certainly make it look better.

The disadvantage being you won't see CSS styles applied to widgets. However, it would be nice to see a pref in browsers to toggle between the two.

Looks like Aquification is happening to v.1b, slated for ###, 2004 (probably after August).
I got a .9 nightly, was surprised, didn't notice many new features. I'll grab a nightly for Windows, the changes seem more obvious on the windows releases, it's much more polished for that system unfortunatly.

Well admittedly for a project with one full time developer (Ben Goodger), supporting 5-10% of your user base is maybe less of a priority. However, Ben does have a G5 and so the Mac version shouldn't slip too far behind.
There's the beginning of an extension manager in the current nightlies - which will eventually be like Software update for extensions.

Until recently, the date for the Aquafication-release was set to june/july. The fact that the date has been replaced with a ### can't be good..?

Strange my settings look like it should be working for me as well.
Code:
browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick default boolean true
I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, though I never did install the drivers for the mouse specifically wonder if that's the problem.

I have the same mouse and problem as you. Only way to solve this is to install Microsoft's drivers or USB Overdrive and set scroll-click to command-click but I'm not going to install drivers for one program. This is a bug in FireFox and until this is solved, I'll stay with Camino and Safari

Exactly... I'd actually like to see an option for non-native widgets in Safari.
This should be a user option for those of us who care.

Somewhat on topic....I've been using Camino now for a couple weeks. Just couldn't stand Safari anymore. But why do some of you use Firefox over Camino?
