I have a Naiko N1170 (or at least that's what it says on it) which I think is similar to a N2081? I want to know if anyone has experience of being able to play SVCDs on it - I can play straight MPEGS fine, but cannot burn SVCDs that work on it, no matter which method/software (toast, missing media etc).

I am not sure whether its me not being able to burn them properly (don't really understand them) or the DVD player. The burnt discs play fine with VLC. I really want to be able play them on the set-top box if poss.

Thanks.

Sorry for randomness of writing - dissertation time!

Without knowing much about the Naiko N1170, I know it plays VCD disks and that it can read CD-R and CD-RW disks. I've only burned on disk before and it was a total pain in the ass. Perhaps you could describe the applications you have used in more detail.

Also, from what source are you trying to move from (DVD, iMovie, DivX, etc.)?

trying to burn from bin and cue files, using toast and missing media burner. They are SVCDs though, which obviously might pose a problem for the dvd player, yet it can play straight mpeg2s (I think at least, was a long time ago)

It seems like it's probably your player.

Here is a site that lists compatibility of most players (its always found every player I've seen but strangely not yours... even Google is at a loss)

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

I'd recommend just trying to test one of your SVCD's elsewhere (friends house, store, etc.), and take things from there.

I think it has either been discontinued or rebranded - it was orginially google-able, but no longer.
