I've been downloading this file, and i've got more than half of it downloaded.

But now all it does is upload and doesn't download at all, are there any settings which I can change to make performance better.

I'm running the regular BT program.

Thanks in advance,

Blackbird.

Well, making sure ports 6881-6889 on your firewall are open is one thing.

Then check the place you got it from... is anyone seeding? is anyone downloading?

Thats about it.

Bittorrent relies on people sharing with each other, if no one is sharing with you, (or can't because of closed ports) then speed will be low, or 0.

leave it running.

sometimes the only guy seeding will switch off his machine but go back online sometime later.

I've had BT downloads take several weeks, on and off.

I've also had several get stuck at 99.5% or 99.7% done and just STAY THERE until I threw them away, weeks later. Some of these *do* get re-seeded (with a new .torrent file) at a later time, though, so you might want to keep around the downloaded file in any case.

That's my guess: lack of seeds. Personally, I use Azureus. I doubt the actual network performance is any better, but it gives you much more detailed information about what's going on with the network. However, it's a Java app, which may turn some people off.
