Mail.app: Can we change the look?
I remember a year ago in Panther you can change the look of mail so that it was Brushed Metal and the drawers resembled iTunes panes rather than it's current itineration of the ugly sliding drawe thing.
Anyway, I am not in love with mail and I am on the verge of switching to Entourage if anybody can help.
Thanks.

You can open the nib files with Interface Builder (part of the XCode development tools) and turn on the brushed metal flag. It won't do much for you if you don't like the app though -- it will still behave the same.

Entourage would not be my choice of a Mail.app replacement. It has so many bugs (especially with ssl smtp, and imap). If you are looking for a replacement, try Thunderbird.

The easiest way would be to drop your messages on an IMAP server in Mail and then grab them in Thunderbird.
If that's not an option, you can't simply import from Mail but it is possible to move your messages over. You have to go to your Library, then the Mail folder, and show the package contents on each mailbox. Inside them you'll find "mbox" files that you need to rename drop into Thunderbird's equivalent folders in Library. It's pretty easy but could be time-consuming if you have lots of mailboxes.
