When I delete a song in iTunes it no longer asks if I want to delete it from my ibrary and place the file in the trash. The song gets deleted from my playlist, but does not get deleted from my HD.

Anyone know how to fix this behavior?

It only asks about trashing if the file is within the iTunes Music folder, which you set in the Advanced section of the preferences. My guess is that you turned off iTunes's automatic sorting feature and then added some songs that were not in the music folder, or you moved your whole music folder. Regardless, turning autosort back on should make it ask about trashing every time.

I believe you can reset the prefs by moving the com.apple.iTunes.plist or com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist files to a different folder. Do this with iTunes not running of course and then start it.

If you don't like the result, quit iTunes, put the files back in and replace the ones that it just made. Restart iTunes.

These files are in Hard Drive/users/"your user"/library/preferences

That will revert you back to default and wipe out some personal preferences.

Of course this will not fix the issue, but it will get you back to where you were.
