As soon as I installed Pithhelmet on my machine, Safari got INCREDIBLY slow.. Pages would take like a minute longer to render than without Pithhelmet.. So I had no choice but to uninstall it again

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't know, I don't use safari much. Possibly because I have Pithhelmet installed and it feels like crap. I've been thinking lately that maybe pithhelmet is the problem, haven't tried removing it. Loading is slow, using tabs is terribly slow.

Firefox with AdBlock is quite speedy. iCab is fast and has an even more powerful "Filter Manager" (filter out anything based on even more info), but it doesn't render pages using CSS well at all.

definitely try deleting pith helmet. despite the number of people who live and die for it, i find that it slows down safari unacceptably.

I use it but it certainly slows down Safari considerably. I'm considering switching to Omniweb for ad blocking without the speed loss.

Privoxy seems pretty interesting! I'll install it as soon as I get home from work.

Is Safari as snappy as always with Privoxy installed?

I just uninstalled PithHelmet ....

WOW! MUCH FASTER! Safari doesn't have this "lag" feeling to it anymore.

Too bad AdBlock isn't available for Safari!

That's the only feature of Firefox that I would love to have in Safari.

I had given up on PithHelmet a year ago for the "lag" reason, but have tried the latest version with Safari 1.2.3 - and am *not* noting the lag this time.

And it is SO wonderful to be able to post this reply without the smilie gifs spasmodics... and sucking up all the CPU (and my PB's battery).
