Does anyone know if Maple 9.5 will improve any of the problems with OS X ? Slow launch, crappy GUI etc. I kind of assume not as they are java related but I don't really know.

Michael

PS Maple 9.5 has been announced on www.maplesoft.com

9 sure is slow isn't it? I ended up using Mathematica instead, which is much quicker.

Will this be a free update to current 9.0 owners, or will it be another point release? I bought 9.0 back in January, and would be supremely mad if this is a pay for update.

According to the Maplesoft page 9.5 is shipping. No sign of the cost an update
and no sign of a downloadable free update.

We are forced to use that stinking pile of junk I have rarely seen an app (even Java) that feels so sloppy. And it's so sloooooooooooooow…

OK the deal is that for 30% of the original cost of 9.0 I am getting an upgrade to 9.5 and that includes 12 months Extended Maintenance Programme. The EMP gives you all upgrades for free and access to www.mapleprimes.com

This is an academic price in Australia.

Seems expensive to me. I'm not paying for it so I am willing to
give it a go. I hope they have improved it :-)

I've just taken delivery of my 9.5. Nothing obviously exciting compared to 9. Launch time is about the same (10-15 seconds on a 1gig 12" PB).
