In the past, I could use Winamp and Shoutcast and do my little music broadcasts.
But on OS X, (I searched before I posted), and it seems that the easiest way would be to use Audion ($) or use Quicktime Streaming Server on OS X Server ($$$$).
Anyone here does any streaming WITHOUT any of the above mentioned software?
Using Open-Source software or something?
Just wanna do it for "fun", not anything "illegal".
Thanks in adv.

well depending on what you want to do, iTunes music sharing might get the job done (the client would need to be running iTunes as well, and be on the same sub-net)

Oops. Forgot to mention that the "clients" would be using Windows, and that they aren't on the same subnet (not on local network).

No. QTSS runs on Mac OS X Server only.
You could download/compile/build Darwin Streaming Server on OS X if you want. But the nice management GUIs, etc., are OS X Server only (part of the reason it's $499 instead of $129 ;-)
And yes QTSS is a great way to do this. However, it is a LOT easier to stream MP3s than AACs with QTSS. AACs are a PITA because they're treated like the audio tracks of video files and therefore must be "hinted." I've wrestled with QuickTime broacaster to stream both AACs and MP3s and I can tell you you only want to stream MP3s

1. Darwin Streaming Server
is available (as a packaged binary) here:
http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/streaming/
The GUI etc. is a local web server, so it all works great on client. I've used before in the past with no problem. It is a little more oriented towards fixed playlists -- it's a bit of a hassle to add and remove songs, etc. This Applescript will export an iTunes playlist to a QTSS playlist.
2. Slim Server
The Slim Server software is wonderful. I strongly recommend going this route if you want users to be able to pick and choose their own songs to play.
3. mp3 Sushi
here:

I haven't used it in ages, but I think it's well regarded.

I've been playing with mp3 sushi and it's very nice.

The "Jukebox" functionality is a GUI wrapper around gnump3d, the official GNU mp3 jukebox app.
It supports re-encoding mp3s on the fly, so you can downsample your mp3s to a lower bitrate, which makes it easier to support more people listening.

Thanks guys for the recommendations and advice.
I'm now trying out MP3 Sushi, and I managed to get it playing on another local Mac.
Edit:
Thanks folks, I got my problem solved.
