I don't know if anyone would know the answer to this since this just came out today, but does anyone know if Party Shuffle is a totally random shuffle or if it does any kind of calculations to determine what songs might go well together? I know there's some shareware program that takes the songs you give it, analyzes them and creates the "best" mix (based on beats per minute and some other stuff). I'm wondering if this is what Party Shuffle is doing too, since when I tested it out it seemed to make a pretty decent mix.
If nothing else it's nice to have this new feature, especially because it does exactly what its name says. You don't want to have to meticulously craft a playlist before a party, but you also want to retain some control over the randomness of a normal shuffle, which this allows you to do. Cool stuff.

It seems like this would be difficult to achieve on the iPod... Since there is no way to remove songs from on-the-go playlists yet.

Here's how it works:
It's just like selecting your desired library (the library in Party Shuffle's drop-down list) and hitting play with shuffle turned on except that it makes a quick interactive playlist that lets you see what's coming up and what has recently been played. It also lets you drag and drop songs and also rearrange what's already there and actually have a bit of a DJ type control over the flow of upcoming music. It's like a chronologically accurate Smart Playlist with Live Updating turned on.
I don't think it has anything to do with bpm or anything like that based on the selections that it chose for me, so your last paragraph was correct, but I agree; it's still pretty cool.

There's a splinter in your eye and it reads "react".

It's a little flawed. My "Party Shuffle" came up with the same song back-to-back. Not cool if you really are throwing a party.
