System = 700 MHz 15" iMac, running OS 10.3.3

I insert the iLife '04 install CD. After running some checks, OS X informs me it can't install the software from the CD, because my machine has a DVD drive... And instructs me to insert the install DVD.

Upon inserting the install DVD, I get a dialogue box with the error message "You inserted a blank DVD. Choose what to do from the popup menu." The options are to open the disc using the Finder, iDVD (which I don't have installed - no SuperDrive) or iTunes. There's also a box there for me to name the "blank" DVD. The buttons on the box are labeled Eject, Ignore and OK. Clicking any option ejects the disc.

WTF?

(By the way, the suite installed fine on my PowerBook and I haven't scratched or otherwise damaged the disc).

i have no idea what is wrong, but advice on what to do. put the dvd in your powerbook then run disk utility and make an image of it and send it over to your current mac, and install iLife off the image. or if you do not need idvd and garageband, put the ilife cd in and then use the go to folder option and go to /Install CD/Packages and run the packages manually.

have you tried contacting apple and getting a replacement dvd if the one you have is flakey? and i assume that since you are trying to install on 2 computers you bought the "family pack" version?
