The time before last, I downloaded updates to imovie and iphoto I had problems with each. imovie often quit for no apparent reason which meant I had to locate and install an earlier version, whereas the iphoto app itself turned a different shape and would not turn on properly.

So I surmised that I needed a faster drive (now 7200rpm) and macjanitor attention, of course I will have to upgrade my computer r.s.n. except thats not on for a good while so will my measley 350mz survive this new round of installments ?

While a 350 Mhz system isn't "dead" I would probably stick with what works... Video editing is one of the most power hungry applications for a computer and with all the new features coming out, I would consider simply focusing on keeping your OS up to date and not worrying about iMovie and iPhoto (actually, iPhoto is worth upgrading).

Just my 2¢

Stick with what works right now. That's really good advice. I've ended up with about $500 worth of software that's absolutely useless because of updates, including Final Cut Express. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
He can be fixed -- you can't.
