I have video clips in Windows Media Player (WMV?) and Real Media Player formats.

Does anyone know of a software program that will convert these files so I can edit them in iMovie (failing that even to edit them Quick Time Pro will do)?

I've searched the net and have found loads of Windows programs that seem to be able to do it but none for Mac (OSX)!

yep. Unless it happens to be WMV1, in which case you can convert with VLC or ffmpeg, the latter of which is faster but will mangle the framerate. Besides that there's screen-capture á la Snapz Pro, but this only really works well below about 240x160 resolution

VLC will convert wmv? I know it will play them but I've never seen an export or save-as option. Could you please explain how.....?
