MacPrime today introduced FileMatic, a revolutionary new application that automates tedious file tasks and consolidates your utility library. FileMatic offers an intuitive and powerful environment for collecting files, and executing an expandable set of Operations on those files. The program ships with nine Operations, including AppleScript Runner, Archiver, Disc Burner, Finder Operations, Mailer, Permissions, Rename, Split And Join, and Type Creator. These powerful modules provide a wide range of capabilities from complex file renames to multi-destination copies. Users can apply Operations individually, or graphically combine them into one-click Scripts. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, users can add third-party Operations, or develop their own using the Cocoa-based FileMatic SDK (available in early June). The application’s open design enables it to deliver a virtually unlimited level of utility.

FileMatic begins life as a powerful search utility to gather files from your system. Drag and drop, a traditional open panel, or a contextual menu can be used to add input files. Users can use the built-in filtering system to selectively choose files to add from a batch (such as a folder or volume). Filters provide both a Simple mode, for quick and easy form-based searches, and an Advanced mode to create a complex Boolean query.

FileMatic’s Smart Sources provide one-click access to any folder or volume on your system or network. Although certainly a great convenience, this feature reveals its true power by allowing a Filter to be attached to the selected source. For example, the user could create a Smart Source which, in one-click, would pull all files created that day from their home folder. This makes providing input files for FileMatic exceptionally easy.

FileMatic’s Preset feature makes processing files with the same parameters effortless. Once the user specifies a set of parameters for a particular Operation, they need only save them as a Preset for later recall. These Presets can be shared with others using the included import and export features.

Although users needing to perform several processing tasks can execute each of them manually, FileMatic includes a powerful scripting facility to automate this procedure. The built-in Script Builder features a graphical approach, therefore requiring no programming knowledge. Once created, these can be exported and shared with other FileMatic users.

FileMatic provides a wide range of additional features including automatic file backup, comprehensive activity logging, and concurrent task execution. The package includes a Contextual Menu Plug-In for direct access to the application from the Finder. With this Plug-In you can select files in the Finder (or other compatible application) and process them without directly using FileMatic.

Pricing and Availability
FileMatic is available for immediate download. Users can experience the power and simplicity of the application free for 30 days. Once the trial period has expired, the program can be purchased for the special introductory price of just $24.99. The FileMatic SDK will be available as a free download beginning in June. Fantastic. First impressions: well designed, good UI (save the metal ;-)). Will have to find a use for it so i can test it out.
