To the mods: sorry to post this as a separate topic, but my reply would go unnoticed if posted in the other thread.
People are getting mad at PalmSource for leaving Macintosh support to third parties in Palm OS 6. That's fine. BUT, most people are getting PalmSource and PalmOne and Palm, Inc. confused.
This is an attempt to straighten people out:
Palm, Inc. recently split from one company (OS and hardware) into two. PalmSource (the OS developer) and PalmOne (the hardware maker).
PalmOne makes the Zire and the Tungsten series. They license the OS from PalmSource, just like other Palm platform hardware makers.
The week that PalmSource announced they would be leaving Macintosh support to third party developers, PalmOne made an announcement reaffirming Macintosh support in their products.
This will mean that PalmOne will be one of the "third parties" to offer support for Palm OS 6, or that they will include Mac support from another third party in the box with their Palm OS 6 devices, negating the need to spend extra money to buy such support.
Now, if they (PalmOne) don't do either of the above as far as OS 6 is concerned, THEN you can get angry.
