hi. i was working on my website with my pc. but since i just switched to macs with a new powerbook i ditched the pc for the most part. but i noticed my site: www.reemasville.com loads nicely under IE but in safari it looks horrible. especially the font sizes. theyre just choppy pixelated blurred letters in soem areas. (like the weather).

i dont want to make the font of the whole site bigger as that makes everything look bad and it messes up my template.

in general though things look wierd. any advice? can i chagne the font type settings? what should i do?

thanks!

There are two ways in which Safari users can improve how small outline fonts are rendered by their browsers:

1. Finder: System Preferences: Appearance: Turn off text smoothing for font sizes XX and smaller (decrease XX).
2. Safari: Preferences: Advanced: Universal Access: Never use font sizes smaller than YY (increase YY).

You shouldn’t expect visitors to change their default Finder or Safari preferences just to view your website, though. I suggest that you address the problem by doing one of the following:

1. Use a larger font size.
2. Use a bit-mapped font.
3. Use an anti-aliased graphic.

Perhaps some web god will deign you better and more correct advice.

Here is what I did to fix this on my 17" LCD.

Go to appearance pre. and set font smooth to medium and just below that set to turn off smooth for font 8 or smaller.

Then in the Safari pref appearance panel set standard font to Times New Roman 15 and fixed font to Courier 12.

That makes most web pages a nice readable and clear font for me.

I just went to your page with these settings and the weather box you mentioned looks fine.
