I'm pretty new to macs and had a few questions about disc utility programs. I know that OSX has a disc utility program, but i was wondering if there's a better program out there. I'm looking at a Norton like program, that has a bunch of disc utilities. It seems that the OSX program is pretty limited. I was wondering if someone could point me towards a good progam, or maybe tell me what I'm missing (if anything) on OSX's disc utility. Thanks a lot,

Kev

The only disk utility you should ever possibly need would be DiskWarrior.

DO NOT buy Norton Utilities for the Mac!!

Second the vote for DiskWarrior. I have little experience with the Norton one, but many, many people warn against them.

DW is very, very good. It has saved my computer a couple of times.

There are numerous reports over at Apple's forums of HDs being completely hosed by Norton.

And, Norton is discontinuing Utilities for the Mac. Norton Anti-Virus is okay for the Mac, but being that there are no OS X viruses, it's pretty pointless right now.
