Word V.x has an annoying habit of gobbling up processor cycles even if it's sitting in the background not doing anything (especially if there's an open document.)

Can someone with office 2004 verify if this still happens with the new apps or not?

It seems to happen a bit less, but still happens.

When it does happen, Word seems to eat up about 10-15% of my CPU when idle in the background (powerbook 1.25 Ghz). Also, tonight, Word started to slow down for no apparent reason (this also happened in version X)--ie, slow scrolling through a document, general sluggishness, etc. Closing the document and reopening it seemed to take care of the problem, but I was bummed to see this issue is still with us.

Yeah well I don't think this is really an issue-fixing release. That should have all been fixed in the 10.1.1 service release a couple of years ago, along with the pixelated printing of PDFs from Word!

This release is just about releasing new features to take our attention away from all the problems that are still there. I'll be buying it anyway - the unicode thing should be good, now that I've found out what it really does .
