Hello,

I have a Packard Bell MP3-player which unfortunatly does not suppot AAC files. Therefore I will need to convert all the songs in my iTunes libary (about 3000) to MP3.

I tried doint it by right-clicking in iTunes and selecting "Convert to MP3", but then I ended up with two copies of every file...that pissed me off!!

What do I do to convert all mt AAC-songs to MP3-songs without this happening again?

A couple points:

1. It's a good thing that iTunes didn't replace your old files with the new converted ones. That's generally how it's done.

2. You could easily have deleted just the AACs by sorting by filetype.

3. You don't want to convert from AAC to MP3 anyway because the sound quality will be worse. The best solution is to re-rip your music from CD to MP3.

4. This topic has been covered many, many times. Try doing a search next time.

Exactly, ideally you would two versions considering the AAC has superior sound quality to the MP3, but I'm not going to tell you how to use your computer.

AAC to MP3 conversion is called transcending. It's very similar to making a photocopy of a photocopy (aka, the quality is lowered)

Anyway, perhaps you should try:

Transgending sounds like no fun, but I wouldn't mind transcending every once in a while!
